The National Printing Company is San Jose's oldest printing company having been established in 1911. The company was originally located at 591 North Fifth Street and was known as the Japanese Press and had printed the Soko Shinbun (A San Francisco Japanese American newspaper). The company was initially run by Toshio Kimura but in 1915 Peter Takaichi who had been Kimura's partner took over operation of the business. The company would move twice more in the next few years, first to 246 Jackson Street in 1916 and then finally settling at its current location at 510 North Fifth Street in 1923. Mr. Takaichi who lived next door to the shop would change the name to the National Printing Company in 1927. The company is still in operation to this day
