Description
During the 1990 Japantown Centennial Celebration Dr. Tokio Ishikawa gave numerous walking tours to the public. As a longtime resident of Japantown Dr. Ishikawa knew the history of the town very well. In this picture at the corner of North Sixth Street and Jackson Street he is telling the crowd about the events of the Tong War of 1922. Dr. Ishikawa gave walking tours throughout the 1980s and 90s until he passed away in 1997. Two years later Eiichi Sakauye purchased Dr. Ishikawa's home on North Fifth Street to be used as the home of the San Jose Japanese America Museum.
